Abstract

Gallery forests represent 10% of the Cerrado area and hold 1/3 of tree species found in this biome. These forests are marked by environmental factors different from the other vegetation formations of the Cerrado, presenting good water availability throughout the year and soil richer in nutrients. Leaves are the plant organs that present greater anatomical plasticity, being the structural variations interpreted as adaptations to specific environments. In this context, the present project aims to study the leaf anatomical features of woody species from Gallery Forest, relating them to the factors found in this ambient. This study is part of a larger project entitled "Anatomy of leaf plants in different vegetation formations", approved by FAPESP (Proc. 2011/23112-3). (AU)
