Abstract

The acknowledgment of patterns in ecological communities is one of the oldest and most persistent challenges of ecological science. The use of mathematical modeling in graphs and decision trees tends to enlarge the available knowledge about ecological processes and particularly on biodiversity of insects, besides allowing recognize possible patterns in their communities. It is estimated to use, in the present study, data from dipteran species necrophagous collected in the city of Rio Claro - SP (VON ZUBEN & SOUZA, 2012) and, from them, generate models of graphs and decision trees. With the graphs generated, the goal is to better understand the interaction of the following factors: local collection, bait type and season, in determining which one (s) kind (s) of carrion flies can be more easily found. If the topology graph generated is characterized as a complex network, additional analysis may be employed.
