Quilombola youth: alterity and intersubjectivity at Poça, in the Ribeira Valley

Abstract

The exclusion has always been part of the black person's history in Brazil. If it was so brutal but socially accepted previously, today, it continues so brutal, but socially invisible. A significative win related to black person's history in Brazil is incorporated in the terms of article 68 in the Acts of Transitory Dispositions from Federal Constitution by 1988, that says: "It's recognized the definitive property of the remainders of the communities of the quilombos that occupy their lands, and the State should issue for them the respective titles". The remainders of the communities of the quilombos have a way of life - conceived, according to Suzuki (1996), through spatial perception and spatial experience - that is different from the way of life developed under directly capitalism's influence. The alterity and intersubjectivity these groups have and that are lived by their members produce and reproduce a symbolic universe that supports this way of life, that isn't static, but is changing constantly, mainly among the remainders youth of the quilombos. Therefore, this research has as objective understand how the alterity and the intersubjectivity among the remainders youth of the quilombos from Poça, in the Ribeira Valley, changed the way of life of community of Poça in the last 5 years.
