Abstract

This work was proposed with the objective of implementing a computer program to estimate the states (complex nodal voltages) of an electrical power system (EPS) and apply alternative methods for processing topological errors (TEs), parameter errors (PEs) and/or gross errors (GEs) in measurements, based on the geometrical interpretation of the measurements errors and the innovation concept. The chosen method to solve the state estimation problem will be the weighted least squares (WLS). Through the geometrical interpretation, Bretas et al. (2009) proved mathematically that the measurement error is composed of detectable and undetectable components, and the methods hitherto used, for processing GEs, consider only the detectable component of the error, and then as a consequence, may fail. In an attempt to overcome this limitation, and based on the works cited previously, it will be studied and implemented an alternative methodology for process measurements with errors. This methodology is based on the analysis of the components of the measurements errors, as presented in the works of Piereti (2011) and Bretas et al. (2013). In the first place it is tested if the measurements set have error, using, for that, the value of the composed normalized measurement error (CMEN). Afterwards we differentiate which type of error occurred, or even if more than one type of error occurred. The correction to be done on the line parameter or in the erroneous measurement will be the correspondent composed normalized error (CNE). The approach proposed in this work requires only one set of measurements, in the same instant. To the program validation, it will be done several simulations on the IEEE-14 bus system, the IEEE-57 bus system and the 45-bus equivalent of the south Brazilian system.
