Abstract

The main purpose of this project it is to perform studies of the public sphere subject in the Argentina of the Rosista period based on the weekly publication "La Moda, gacetín semanal, de musica, de poesia, de literatura, de costumbres". Its publication brings up the Literary Society organized by Marcos Sastre, edited between November 18th (1837) and April 21st (1838), which didn´t conquer much attention on the studies about the 1837 generation. The magazine is relevant for the studies of the cultural circles and the literary expert sociability group purposes that usually got together in Buenos Aires. The weekly publication allows a kind of approach that is not restricted to the politics debates and literary, as usual on the historiography about the group of 1837. The project of "La moda" includes propositions of transforming habits and social practices, otherwise instigates cultural issues, and at the same time seeks to enroll a public that shares certain aesthetics and politics references of the 1837 generation. Thus, since the goals are clear, a limited production and with an specific target audience defined, members of the literary society, with emphasis on Juan Bautista Alberdi´s public figure, intent to transpose the borders of the restricted club of experts and to increase its audience within the public sphere. The subject of the public sphere as itself is a methodological challenge to the researchers that have been devoted to think the relations between societies, cultures and politics, because its proposal, guided by Jürgen Habermas theory, requires specific attention for its employ on the XIX century, specifically in Latin America.
