Abstract This research will aim to identify how manufacturing companies dealing with points of contact between the areas of operations and environment, and also identify any conflicts that may arise during this interaction. Manufacturing companies will be chosen from the state of São Paulo to compose a case study, and the information will be obtained through interviews and secondary data, as well as direct observation of the researcher. The analysis will be performed by compiling the data, so that one can make a comparison with the literature. The increasing pressure from stakeholders on corporate environmental management programs makes research relevant as it will provide an overview of the interface between two key areas for process improvement in the way of cleaner production and less damaging to the environment and the community. It is hoped that the research meets its objectives by identifying companies with deal with points of contact and proposing actions to mitigate the conflict between the areas of operations and environment.
