Abstract

The following research aims to shed light on the relation between the composer Béla Bartók and the critic Theodor W. Adorno. Aiming to enter through this contact an understudied region of the aesthetic: the dialectical relation between the composer and the critic. Was selected writings of the decades of 1920 and 1930, both the composer and the critic, as main sources for this dialogue. To establish the possibility of dialogue between both was tended to blend and oppose the concept of "Popular Music" and its split, referring us to critical musicological of the critical philosopher to the socio-musicological writings of the composer. We selected the immanent critique to the object as a methodology to analyze the proposed texts. Starting from these inquiries it will be possible to replace the position of the critic and philosopher opposite the historical and aesthetic phenomenon of the Twentieth-Century Music, interpolating them.(AU)
