Abstract

In electric power systems (EPS), the phenomenon of resonance and harmonic amplification, resulting from the interaction between the inductive and capacitive reactance present in electrical networks, has become a matter of great concern to both the technical and scientific community by the constant growth in the use of equipment with non-linear characteristics and load sensitive to minimal changes in the waveforms of voltage and current. In this context, this proposed research presents an analysis of the conditions and solutions related to and applicable to the phenomenon of resonance and harmonic amplification in distribution systems. This analysis will include the modeling of a primary distribution network in order to characterize the conditions and frequencies that may characterize the phenomena, considering the characteristics of the source and system impedances, both on the part of the utilities as of the end customer, looking for technical solutions to mitigate and/or elimination of the problems highlighted.
