Abstract

This research aims to analyze the interrelationships between artistic practice and social movements, checking the aesthetic and political issues arising therefrom. Taking as an object of study of collective artistic interventions during the occupation of the building Prestes Maia, held in São Paulo, the objective is to analyze the formation of hybrid territory issues and practices in which artistic, social, and economic policies are consistent and allow us to glimpse some traces of a practice, overcoming this particular case, has marked much of contemporary artistic production. The research will study based documents - articles from newspapers and magazines, periodicals, dissertations and theses, iconographic material, etc. - produced on this occupation seeking to identify lines of action and trends; select representative cases of these lines and, through semi-structured interviews with the participants of these interventions; seek to examine how the issues arising there influenced later work.
