Abstract

The objective of this research is to perform magnetic studies in the sedimentary rocks from Itararé Group in the Paraná State. The magnetic anisotropies, rock-magnetic properties, and the characteristic remanent magnetization will be determined. The magnetic properties will be compared to each other tentatively to determine some difference in the stratigraphic position i.e magnetostratigraphy. Magnetic fabrics will allow some inference related to deformation in the rocks, and the comparison of them with structural elements, if existent, will allow investigating possible relation between sedimentation and the tectonic of Paraná Basin. The determination of characteristic remanent magnetization in the rocks will contribute to calculating at least a Permocarboniferous paleomagnetic pole of the South-American Plate. (AU)
