Abstract

A trial will be conducted with the aim of evaluating the effects of chitosan addition in broilers' diets. Seven hundred twenty birds will be randomly assigned in a factorial design 3X2 (with growth promote, without growth promote, chitosan inclusion X recommended level of energy and low level of energy) with six treatments and 10 replications of 12 birds each. Characteristics will be examined: performance, carcass, breast, legs, and abdominal fat yield. In addition, the concentration of triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein will be analyzed in serum samples. (AU)
