Abstract

Given the problems associated with changes in land use and land cover, in particular, deforestation in the Legal Amazon, highlighting the state of Rondônia, will be analyzed in this study the religious institutions of territories whose practice the use of Ayahuasca tea in their rituals. Emerged from the first decades of the twentieth century, through the Brazilian Amazon these religious movements were led by rubber and have possible success in forest conservation. Has the hypothesis that the use of Ayahuasca tea (use value) in these institutions has contributed to resacralization of nature among the growing number of fans and consequent conservation of forest areas by a logic that is established from the individual and not hegemonic social groups and free from relationships and economic interests (exchange value). In this sense, the research proposed here is meant to examine the constitution of religious territories of institutions using the Ayahuasca tea in Rondonia state - BR, focusing on human-nature interactions, as well as analyze the results of this interaction in terms of conservation forest. To achieve the proposed objective, the following methodological procedures will be used: interviews addressed to managers and other members of members of the institutions in question; systematic observations; phytosociological analysis; analysis of the dynamics of land cover and land use and landscape metrics calculations.
