Abstract

The study of energy loss of ions in materials (stopping power) is an important subject in physics, either fundamental or applied physics. Although much has already been done, there are still many open questions in the theoretical models, and lack of experimental data to verify and compare with existing models over a wider range of elements and beam energies. This work aims the development and the use of experimental techniques at the Ion Beam Material Analysis Laboratory of the University of Sao Paulo (LAMFI-USP), for the determination of the stopping power of H+ and He+ ions with energies between 100keV and 3MeV in samples with high atomic mass, such as Nb and Pd, and in compounds like SiC, SiO2 and TiO2 , in this case, to verify the applicability of Braggs rule.
