Abstract The horses subjected to intense exercise may exhibit electrocardiographic changes; however, there is little information about the electrocardiographic characteristics of horses used for wagon traction, an activity very common in the inner cities of São Paulo. The objective of this study is to evaluate the electrocardiographic parameters of horses that pull wagons in the city of Pirassununga/SP, checking the main changes and comparing the results with the literature description and parameters of horses that do not perform this activity. The ECG will be preceded by a physical examination of the animal, with the mucosal inspection, determination of capillary refill time (CRT), palpation of the precordium and arterial pulse, and cardiopulmonary auscultation. The ECG will be done with the horse standing up, using a 12-lead electrocardiograph to register the bipolar (DI, DII, and DII), augmented (aVR, aVL, and aVF), and precordial leads (V1, V2, V3, V4, and basis-apex). The results may contribute to the understanding of cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular analysis of traction horses. (AU). | |
