Abstract

In this work Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and nanoMOFs of Eu (III) will be obtained and characterized by making use of various O-and N-multitopic donor ligands such as salts containing anions malonate, fumarate and succinate, and trimesic acid, terephthalic acid and 3,5-dicarboxypyrazole acid (HdcPz). The nanoMOFs show multifunctional properties such as microporosity, magnetism and luminescence. Thus, they may have different applications in areas such as sensors, OLEDs, molecular magnetism host-guest chemistry, among others. The compounds are synthesized by various synthetic routes such as conventional reaction solution, the diffusion method, hydrothermal synthesis, the use of microwave radiation and synthesis without a solvent. It will also be modified reaction parameters such as solvent, precursor metal, metal molar: binding ratio, pH, and temperature. The species obtained are characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV spectroscopy, thermal analysis, XRD and SEM. The porosity and surface area will be evaluated for nitrogen adsorption measurements. Also the investigation of the luminescent and magnetic properties of the compounds prepared will be a subject of study in this project. (AU)
