The aim of this proposal is to introduce the student into the area of antennas through a theoretical and practical study of their principal physical features, emphasizing simple geometries, like the line wire antennas. The student will also have the opportunity to develop a MatLab numerical environment based on the Method of Moments (MoM) capable to simulate any type of line wire antennas. Finally, the technique will be applied to the design, fabrication, and measurements of line wire antennas in radio frequencies, as well as, simulations of such antennas for optical communications and solar energy harvesting applications, which will be explored.
