Abstract

This project aims the composition of a double entry, "Pessimism" and "Optimism", to the Nietzsche Dictionary (Nietzsche-Wörterbuch). Led by one of the most renowned searchers of the international Nietzsche-Forschung, Prof. PhD. Paul van Tongeren (University Nijmegen, Netherlands), the project of one dictionary about the German thinker's writings began, at this same University, in 1998 and it is considered, due to its amplitude, the most ambitious attempt of producing a reference work about one of the most controversial philosophers of the history of the occidental thought. Foreseen to be published originally in four volumes, the Nietzsche Dictionary transformed itself into a long-term work in a global scale, with collaborators from all parts of the world. Such fact made necessary the enlargement of the number of volumes, as well as the insertion of the entries, before being published in the printed version, on the database about the philosopher, the Nietzsche Online. It has been fed in the last years with the work of the own author (KGW, Kritische Gesammtausgabe, and KGB, Briefwechsel: Kritische Gesamtausgabe) as well as all the publications of the publisher De Gruyter, one of the most important in the world, about the philosopher. Up to now just the first volume (Band 1: Abbreviatur - einfach), containing 67 entries, was published. A range of authors have been working in a repertory that sums about 800 entries. Continuing the theme of the candidate's doctoral thesis, the present project inserts itself, due to an invitation of the led professor of the dictionary himself, in the current expansion and consolidation movement of the Brazilian research in the international setting.
