Abstract

The insects of the genus Aedes are animals warm or subtropical climate, being dispersed by the five continents the world, they are known to transmit dengue, an infectious disease transmitted by a virus single-stranded DNA, family Flaviviridae. The species Aedes aegypti, is characterized by a high rate adaptive near urban perimeters, which further enhances the case of the disease in these regions. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells or low degree of differentiation found in embryonic and extra embryonic tissues. Due to high demand of diseases caused by these insects, this research seeks to understand how their cellular organization, thus aiming at an alternative means of control thereof. To perform this work, stem cells from fertilized eggs will be collected, without infection of the smooth muscle of the digestive tract of Aedes insects, in order to isolate and characterize the stem cells. The cell line studied will come from breeding insects without infection, installed in UEMA, State University of Maranhão, Caxias, Maranhão. To accomplish this cultivation, the methods used are two, Grace and Sf900II. These, when appropriately supplemented with fetal bovine serum, may be employed in cultured insect cells. In order to deepen our knowledge in this area, the study of cell biology of Aedes insects, will give us a better view of how diseases that infect them are and will contribute to the biological control of these species.
