Abstract The watermelon is a vegetable with high economic and social, having numerous properties and therapeutic nutritional ties, which increases the interest of researchers and consumers for their fruit. Thus, this work has the aim of evaluating the performance of commercial hybrids of mini watermelon at different spacings, growth orientation, and thinning of fruits grown in coconut husk fiber, in a protected environment. The project will be divided into three stages. In step 1 will be assessed the performance of five hybrid mini watermelon (Beni Kodama, Ki Kodama; Smile; New Kodama, and Rapid Fire) against four plant spacing. Based on these results, it will give beginning to step 2, which will determine the optimum number of plants per pot and stems per plant. With this information, it will start step 3, which will include the study of source-sink relationship. During all stages of the project will be evaluated characteristics of production, quality, and plant physiological parameters. | |
