Abstract

The Vesículovirus (VSV) belonging to the family Rhabdoviridae. The genus VSV is subdivided into Indiana serotypes 1, Indiana 2 and Indiana 3, and subtype virus Piry is part of Indiana serotype 3. VSV infections and particularly those caused by Piry virus, produce acute febrile illness that is largely unknown by the human public health service in Brazil. Therefore, offering modern weapons diagnostic, consider that an investigation into the VSV and particularly about the Piry virus, it is necessary and should contribute to a better understanding of clinical and epidemiology of these viruses. We aim with this project detect virus genome of Piry and other VSV in serum of patients with acute febrile illness. To do so, we use conventionals RT-PCRs for VSV and a real-time RT-PCR will be developed as part of the Project and which will meet the titer of VSV in the clinical sample. Also, viruses whose genome is eventually detected will have their nucleotides sequenced for phylogenetic studies. (AU)
