Abstract

The filamentous fungus Trichoderma reesei presents an efficient protein secretion machinery which makes it an excellent organism for large-scale production of homologous or heterologous proteins with industrial application. Our proposal aims at the analysis of chimeric promoter, induced by zinc, of the cellobiohydrolase I gene from T. reesei, to evaluate its potential use to drive expression of recombinant proteins of interest. This will produce the necessary enzymes for biomass hydrolysis with consequent reduction of its cost, contributing to the spread of the use of biomass as a source for biofuels. (AU)
