Abstract

Medicalization's a phenomenon that by an ideological process transforms social, political, and institutional issues into organic and individual problems. In the educational field, this process is characterized, mostly, by the idea that children who have some kind of inability to learn or to behave in school, are victims of neurological dysfunctions, related to their school performance, and the diseases created artificially, are problems of learning, or troubling behaviors related to school. When identified are prescribed medicines to treat them. We know that problems to learn or troubled behavior related to school are the essential motives to leave kids and young people to health care of specialists, placing to these specialists a big challenge theoretical and practical. This study aims to identify the prevalence of a critical position about the process of medicalization in school and how the more recent researchers are treating this phenomenon, using the analyses of academic reviews with A and B on the platform CAPES (Personal Development sector for higher education), of the last three year's (2010-2012) on academic reviews in psychology and education. The research pretends to offer a panorama of the more recent contributions of Psychology and education, about the analyses of, how the medicalization process has been created on the educational scenario, and point to the theoretical and practical instruments that researchers of the two areas are using to lead this situation.
