Abstract

This project has as its object of study theater produced within the Brazilian circuses in the early twentieth century, aiming thereby to contribute to the expansion of the knowledge we have about this type of traditional Brazilian spectacle. The focus will be from the dramatic repertoire of plays performed by Nerino Circus, which was an important period of the circus. This repertoire will be analyzed primarily as a focus of study, the comic persona, which, although generally in melodramas circus, perform a secondary role in the plot, plays a role of great importance to the dramatic structure. The study focuses on the creation of this figure to the drama genre and the enactment of the pieces.
