Abstract

The project aims to map, understand and discuss the relationship of small farm owners, producers and suppliers of sugar cane, with processing plants in the region of Araraquara and Jaboticabal. We aim to study the small farmer as a productive party, who adapts to the changes that ishappening in the agricultural field and to understand the new conditions under witch this partyworks outside or inside the production of the processing plant. In areas where sugar cane production is dominant, it is indispensable to undertake more specific studies focused on the supplier of the land, or sugar cane to the processing plants. To understand local agriculture, it is fundamental to expand the discussions of rural areas, against new perspectives ( The new rural Brazilian ) and the activities and sociability in fields that do not make separation of rural from urban.It is becoming indispensable to carry out more specific studies and discussions, focusing on the relationship and contractual conditions between the small farmer and the processing plants as well as the farm conditions, in selecting a suitable utilization of the land, which in consequence will have a socioeconomic impact on the region of Araraquara and Jaboticabal.
