Abstract

The New Light Project, as a new urban intervention began in 2005, presenting himself as a change in the prevailing view on how to retrain the central area of São Paulo: The paradigm of urban interventions by creating cultural facilities was dropped, giving rise to a new form of viable investments in the central area. In light of this new neighborhood revitalization model was planned and is being executed, supported by a scenario that puts the neighborhood of Light as a degraded area. The mobilization enabled the establishment of the association Amoaluz, whose blog is a vehicle for the dissemination of the irregularities of the project New Light, as well as from everyday life and the neighborhood association. Through an ethnographic study of the sociological and neighborhood, aims to identify how these new forms of sociability bring to light some consequences of this form of requalify urban centers. However, with the public hearing actions that the government has been applying in the neighborhood, it can be observed that the Light is not a degraded space and such governmental actions eventually bring uncertainties to residents and merchants, causing new forms of social interaction between different actors there gifts.
