Abstract

The research project aim to improve a computational script which implements the normalization method (ASTM E1820-11 standard) and subsequent application of this method to the identification of a J-R curve for PTFE. The initial version of this computational script was developed for members of the research group in Matlab, specifically by Cassius Riul in his phd at LMT Cachan in 2011 and Nicolas Schmitt (supervisor of this proposed research project). The method was initially defined for metallic materials therefore must be tested, improved and validated for the PTFE. Validation will occur based in the J-R curve obtained by the multiple specimen method, this work has been developed actually in Brazil for the student. At the same time, a new manner for crack-tip position estimation during the test will be tested using the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) what could provide a new way to trace the J-R curve. (AU)
