Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze and understand the Marxian ontology of value in The Capital (Book I) by Karl Marx. The argument is that the value is capitalist ideological determination: 1) fulfills a social function through measurement and mercantile language of your substance (work), greatness (working time) and form (exchange value), and 2) this function is engendered in the sign of the value (currency), a representation of value that acts dialectically by approximation (measurement-value language) and distance (the consciousness of social work in relation to the capitalist central concept-idea: surplus value). That is, the value as ideological determination has procedural, conceptual and social implications that acquire importance in the labor theory of value in Marx. This research will elucidate the links that provide a grounded understanding of these implications, which means that the labor theory of value succeeds to explain the reality of capitalist value.
