Abstract Differences in lineages' phenotypic integration patterns directly affect the amount of existing variation for different variables and thus exert direct and/or indirect influence on both the possibilities for phenotypic diversification and the ways in which given lineages respond to selective pressures. This project proposes to investigate patterns and magnitudes of morphological integration in the skull of feliform Carnivora, a group exhibiting marked ecological and morphotype diversity, comparing the results obtained to those for other mammal groups. The project thus intends to assess differences in evolutionary flexibility within this group, making way for future studies on the past evolutionary processes which may have operated upon the various lineages of Feliformia. | |
