Abstract This project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. It uses a mixed sequential approach. A multi-method will be used in this study to evaluate and predict health risks in men related to chronic non-communicable diseases according to social vulnerability experienced in the place where they live. Four sequential methods were outlined to achieve the goals, aiming: (1) to evaluate the relationship between absenteeism in health assistance and number of chronic non-communicable diseases; (2)to study diseases and socioeconomic conditions that predict each case of cerebral vascular accident and compare them with controls; to check the relationship between spatial distribution of men bearer of chronic non-communicable diseases and social vulnerability; (4)to know the proposed health assistance to male population implemented by coordinators of Basic Health Care Units and the knowledge they have concerning the National Policy of Integrated Healthcare for men. The project will be conducted in a city of the state of São Paulo. Methods one, two and three are quantitative and use secondary data of the Integrated Health Information System (SIMIS, in the Portuguese-language acronym) of fifteen Units of Primary Health Care located in the city of the study. The fourth method is qualitative and Content Analysis will be used based on interviews with coordinators of Basic Care Units. Sample calculations, data collection and statistical analyses of the first three methods were planned by a statistician, according to the description in the body of this project. With the results of this project we expect to help with the reorganization of the attention to the men healthcare as well as to public policies target at the true needs of people. (AU) | |
