Abstract

The high incidence of breast cancer is due to a number of factors, including use of hormones such as estradiol, and exposure to chemicals, including bisphenol A, both considered estrogenic disruptors, which can contribute to the development of neoplasms mammary, increasing malignancy of cells by binding to the estrogen receptor. In this feeling, the identification of therapeutic agents that inhibit the estrogen receptor pathway has been shown to be extremely useful. Some studies have shown that oral administration of melatonin, a natural hormone, can exert an oncostatin effect on mammary tumors. It is considered as a probable mechanism of action, its interaction with estrogen receptors in epithelial cells. Based on these observations, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment with melatonin in breast cancer cells MCF-7 (ER +) exposed to bisphenol A and/or Estradiol. The results may confirm the therapeutic potential of melatonin. (AU)
