Abstract

The Master's project conducted by the candidate deals with definitions of abstract data types (ADT) to handle vague spatial data aiming at incorporating it in geographic data warehouses. While crisp spatial data have exact location and well-known boundaries, vague spatial data have inexact location or uncertain boundaries. The Master's project investigates implementations of vague spatial data through ADTs based on the VASA (exact model) and fuzzy models. Thus, the Master's project investigates architectures to define ADTs in a database management system as well as the representations of vague spatial data. In this sense, the objective of the proposed internship project is to investigate implementations using a different approach to define ADTs. More specifically, we aim to investigate the iBLOB, and compare it with the approaches proposed in the Master's project. In addition, we intend to refine the Fuzzy VagueGeometry, which is a representation of vague spatial data based on the fuzzy model that was implemented in the Master's project. (AU)
