Abstract

Enterococcus faecalis resistant to penicillin and ampicillin sensitive can currently be considered susceptible to amoxicillin, piperacillin and imipenem by internationally accepted criteria. However, samples with different sensitivity profiles are emerging, observed E. faecalis phenotypes contradictory to this. Thus, this study aims to investigate samples penilicina this microorganism resistant to ampicillin and sensitive to flee the phenotypic standard expected by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute, CLSI. For this purpose, are selected E. faecalis bacterioteca of the LEBEM (Special Bacteriology Laboratory and Molecular Epidemiology) and from various sources and geographical regions. We will study the phenotypic profile of resistance by the disk diffusion test and also by Etest ®. In addition, will be investigated gene polymorphisms pbp4 and its possible influence on the phenotypic profile analyzed.
