Abstract

Within the scope of bioenergy production studies, this project focuses on the assessment of a mechanically stirred anaerobic sequencing batch reactor containing immobilized biomass applied to biohydrogen production by treating lactose based synthetic wastewater. In this study the following will be assessed: biohydrogen production, conversion factor between formed hydrogen and consumed organic matter, reactor efficiency and stability when subjected to different organic loads and feed times, which are modified depending on the influent concentration and total cycle length.
