Abstract

In this postdoctoral research, from the theoretical perspective of French Discourse Analysis (Pêcheux, 1997), we analyze the design, the creation and the circulation of a discourse (Orlandi, 2005a) on women in contemporaneousness and cyberspace.Facebook pages on Marcha das Vadias(The SlutWalk) will be used as material of analysis.We have selected pages on Marcha das Vadias taking place in Brasília, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Curitiba and Campinas. In our corpus, we intend to examine: (1) how a saying about women is designed and circulates in contemporary society and on the network, seeking to break with sayings already engraved in the memory of society about what it is and what it is not to be woman;(2) how a distinct discourse appears in the discourse on women and imbue them with meaning; (3) how the designation imputed to women (saint, bitch, slut, victim, guilty, free) works in the materiality under scrutiny; (4) in what consists the feminist movement in the face of the digital age; (5) how a discourse on violence and on women protection pervades the discourses whichinterpellatethem; (6) how militancy is manifest in the cyberspace and invites women to reflect upon their place in society.We aim, therefore, to note how sayings about women, about the violence against the "second sex" and their protection are spread, but, at the same time, silenced in the contemporary society. Thus, we try to understand how Marcha das Vadias gathers significance in the technological sphere and constitutes itself as a discourse of militancy that invites women, men and the whole society to reflect upon the meanings of what it is "to be humanin womanhood."
