Abstract

In this project, at the level of undergraduate research, the aim is to contribute to understand the spatial logic of the banking system in the municipalite of Presidente Prudente, State of São Paulo, to understand how is redefined the urban centrality. The hypothesis is that such logics extend the sociospacial segmentation in this city, as there is a tendency for the location of bank branches and ATMs in the residential areas of higher income. Thus, this research will seek, on the one hand, to evaluate the spatial strategies of the banking system, which have a strong impact on the process of structuring the city and, on the other hand, to evaluate how they reorient spatial practices, on everyday use of time and space by urbanites. This project is linked to the thematic project "Logical contemporary economic and spatial practices: middle cities and consumption."
