Abstract

This research allies the study of the published text In "Search of Lost Time", by Marcel Proust, to the analysis of its manuscript corpus. The focus of this analysis, both published text and scrapbook, is the study of Charles Swann's character: the narrator's alter ego, he embodies questions which will be experienced again by the Proustian hero through the oeuvre ( such as the experience of love and jealousy, the interest for art, dilettantism’s risk.) Integrative part of the theme project FAPESP/Brépols, the research will begin from the analysis of Swann's role on the published text, aiming, further, to follow the progressive constitution of this character on Marcel Proust's scraps.
