Abstract The following project is submitted as an application for an Overseas Research Scolarship (Bolsa de Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior: BEPE) as part of my current doctoral research on The historization of sciences in the work of Georges Canguilhem. I propose a simultaneously historical and epistemological exploration of Georges Canguilhem's work, seeking to broaden and deepen our understanding of the criteria that determine both how objects of study are chosen, and how the investigative methods and rules for writing the history of the sciences are defined. This exploration is further supported by a reconstruction of the intellectual debates in which Canguilhem became involved over the course of his academic career, leading to various twists and turns in his thought. Hence the project involves an inquiry into the eventful formation of a body of thought of key importance to the general theory of the History of Science, seeking to move beyond the dichotomy between internalism and externalism. The application for the BEPE scholarship is justified by the need to include new aspects of Canguilhem's thought in my investigation, revealed by the opening up of the Georges Canguilhem Archives - located at the Centre d'Archives de Philosophie, d'Histoire et d'Édition des Sciences of the École Normale Supérieure - to researchers. These new dimensions have been brought to light in particular by the works of philosopher and historian Jean-François Braunstein, under whose supervision I intend to conduct my research while in France.
