Abstract

This research aims to understand the effects of public policies destined to family agriculture on the lives of women farmers, checking if these policies have generated (or not) the empowerment of women in the countryside. We have taken as reference for the study, a group of women farmers, that is, the Organization of Women of Toucan Settlement (OMAT), located in the town of Euclides da Cunha Paulista. The option of working with that organization if due to the fact that it was created and is run by women, and it is our interest to analyze how public policies (PNDT; Pronaf Mulher; PAA and PNAE) can help them give visibility to their work, how they contribute to the strengthening of their action within the family and in the settlement. To attain the proposed objectives, we will bring together information from secondary sources (through data sources such as IBGE, LUPA, SEADE) and primary sources (through interviews of OMAT associated people and the ones responsible for Casa de Agricultura (Agriculture Bueau) and ITESP in the town of Euclides da Cunha Paulista.
