Abstract

This project has an innovator and emergent character in biomedical area because presents the production and characterization of nanoparticle-incorporated diamond-like carbon (DLC) films in order to cover orthopedic alloys. The DLC films will be produced using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique and crystalline diamond (NCD) nanoparticles will be incorporated in their bulk. Commercial biomedical alloys will be the substrates. The films will be characterizated using electrochemical assays to evaluate the anticorrosive effects using simulated body fluid. This project hopes prove the anticorrosive effects in order to enable the use of DLC films in biomedical applications.
