Abstract

In view of recent experimental efforts on double bilayer graphene systems, we will study in this project inter-layer electron-hole pair condensation in graphene bilayers using quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) method. We intend to calculate the excitation gaps, the correlation lengths, and the condensation fractions. It is expected that such simulations can clarify the role of screening effects and importance of the many-body correlations in the excitonic condensation. The proposed QMC calculation will also be significant to test the accuracy of some of the available approximate results within mean field theory. (AU)
