Abstract

This research proposes a study on how technology makes significant impacts in the poetics of Live Cinema works. Live Cinema could be defined as performative audiovisual art, in which the creator would handle images and sounds in real time for an audience, in a non-standardized environment. To conduct the survey, we expect the analysis of Live Cinema works, aiming to produce mapping and details for the technological structure. In addition, we will be working on an experimental audiovisual performance, which we call Live Living Cinema, with a focus on detailing work methods regarding screenwriting and editing procedures for real-time works. Focusing on how technical procedures are present in the creation, the survey emphasizes the formation of the poetics, by artists who use the available technology to reinvent the tools and question their usage. From Umberto Eco's concept "The Open Work," we will be observing the relationship between production, labor and fruition in each case and thus, we'll define a similar structure, having this Concept Device as a constituent in the formation of the expressive potential, in the real-time image and sound handling culture. Thus, the project aims to contribute with art and technology surveys; communication surveys, cinema surveys and other important audiovisual forms, putting forth a definition for the main lines of Live Cinema poetics, mutant and performative art, conceived through specific technological configurations.
