Abstract The effect of peculiar velocities of galaxies on their distance determination can bias the data from galaxies catalogs. When looking at galaxies in virialized regions in galaxy clusters, highly non-linear effects come into play, giving birth to effects such as "fingers-of-god". We here restrict ourselves to the complementary region: we assume that the peculiar velocities are small compared with the Hubble flow, and focus on wide-angle effects on redshift space distortions. The correct account of these wide-angle effects are crucial for the correct understanding of the data from the next generation of galaxy surveys. (AU) | |
