Abstract

This research aims to survey the relationships between humans and jaguars that arise in the bibliography on the Mebengokré. This issue will be addressed based on the notions of "subject" and the varied relationships between subjectivities that appear in the study of Amerindian cosmologies. The choice of the jaguar, extensively discussed in other contexts, intended to enable an investigation about the relationship between subjects apprehended in the descriptions of Mebengokré contexts. Finally, the analysis of ethnographic data will follow towards a contextualization within the recent theoretical discussions working on the deconstruction of the nature/culture dichotomy.
