Abstract

The work will be carried out to evaluate the effects of adding nucleotides and glutamic acid in diets for weanling pigs on performance, blood lipid profile and turnover of carbon-13 in the intestinal mucosa. Will be conducted two experiments totaling 171 weaners with an average age of 21 days. In the first experiment the animals will be distributed in a randomized block design in a factorial arrangement of treatments 2 x 2 (two nucleotide levels: 0.0 and 0.1% and two glutamate levels: 0.0 and 1.0% in diets) with seven replicates and three piglets per experimental unit, totaling 84 animals. The performance will be evaluated during the period from 21 to 63 days of age, blood samples for lipid profile analysis will be performed at the beginning and end of the trial period. In the second experiment, with randomized block design in a factorial arrangement of treatments 2 x 2 (two nucleotide levels: 0.0 and 0.1% and two glutamate levels: 0.0 and 1.0% in the diet), study will be conducted turnover of carbon-13 in the small intestine. On days 3, 5, 8, 12, 20, 32 and 49 after weaning, piglets will be slaughtered three per treatment and the day of weaning (day zero) will be slaughtered three piglets, totaling 87 animals. The samples of the mucosa and intestinal wall of the duodenum and jejunum will be taken and analyzed in a mass spectrometer of isotopic ratios (Delta V Advantage Isotope Ratio MS, Thermo Scientific, Germany). The results of performance and lipid profile will be submitted to analysis of variance using the SAS statistical package, and isotopic data of the intestinal mucosa will be analyzed by the exponential equations of first order software Minitab ® 16.
