Abstract

Objective with this study was to evaluate the effect of different inclusion levels of canola oil in the diet of dairy cows on production, composition and fatty acid profile of milk. Will be used 18 Holstein cows, which distributed in 3x3 Latin square according to the following treatments: T1 = control diet, T2 = 3% inclusion of canola oil in the diet and T3 = 6% inclusion of canola oil in the diet. The animals will be housed in individual pens for evaluation of voluntary intake with 10% left in the trough. The diets are based on corn silage, soybean meal, ground corn, urea and common salt, which will be formulated on the recommendations of NRC (2001) and formulated to be isonitrogenous and isocaloric. The variables analyzed are: milk composition (fat, protein, lactose, total solids, urea nitrogen, and somatic cell count); lipid profile of milk and food. The results will be analyzed by the computer program Statistical Analysis System ® (SAS, 2001), by the command-Proc MIXED of SAS, adopting a significance level of 5% according to the following model: Yijkl = ¼ + Ti + Qj + A (Q) k + Pl + eijkl.
