Abstract

The main objective of this work is to pursue the study of models and methods used for the calculation of optimal space trajectories with minimum fuel consumption for an orbital maneuver. In particular, the present work aims to study orbital maneuvers accomplished with the help of low thrust propulsion system for long orbit periods. The dynamic model considered deviates the satellite from the Keplerian orbit, i.e., the orbital perturbations forces will be considered once the time to maneuver a satellite is large enough such that these forces have an important influence. One of the objectives of this research is to make a detailed study of various types of space missions, and then finding the ideal orbit for its implementation, in order to define which perturbation forces should be included in the modeling. After this work, a study will be realized to evaluate the differences in terms of fuel consumption as well as in terms of time to perform the maneuver propulsion required, taking into account the dynamic disturbances considered. In this way, the goals that this research aims to achieve are extensive. The main one is to conduct further research to make generalizations and/or extensions of existing results. The main objectives to be achieved with this work are: 1) Study the solutions presented in the literature, in particular the ones more concerned with methods involving low thrust and the external perturbation forces; 2) The development of new researches to improve the existing results with orbital maneuvers with low thrust; 3) The implementation of useful methods from a practical point of view for space missions, such as the project Aster, which is considering the possibility of sending a spacecraft to an asteroid; the CBERS, which is a mission to study the Earth's natural resources, etc. The Aster mission has gone through various stages of study, and the topic of orbital maneuvers is of great importance to this mission. This implies that the knowledge gained from this research may have practical usage. (AU)
