Abstract

This project aims to analyze the body transformations of the young girl in the Jarawara initiation ritual by the simultaneous use of the theories of perspectivism, by Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, and of ritual interactions, by Michael Houseman. At first, I will think of the initiate's body focusing on the relations in the rite, assuming that all the Jarawara Others may be present in the exchanges, interactions and ritual performances. In a second step, I will concentrate in the rite as a body metamorphosis and thus seek a dialogue between the ritual and other animistic practices where there is perspective exchange: disease, shamanism, contact and hunting.
