Abstract

The battery DLOTCA-G (Dynamic Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment - for Geriatric Population) - in elderly people in Santos -(Katz et al, 2010) is a dynamic cognitive assessment for elderly people and assessing cognitive abilities in 8(eight) areas, as orientation, visual and spatial perception, praxis, visual and motor organization, operations of thinking, memory, and awareness. In addition to the cognitive skills the battery allows us to identify the potential for learning and thinking strategies, from the use of mediation. That battery has gone through the process of cultural adaptation, but its psychometric properties have not yet been evaluated. Objectives: Assess the psychometric properties of the adapted version: applicability (through the practicality of use), reliability (test-retest (intra and interexaminer)), and criterion validity in a sample of the elderly community. Methods: The Portuguese version of the battery DLOTCA-G will be applied to a sample of 100 elderly living in the community. Evaluation instruments will be used: the battery DLOTCA-G, Mini-Mental State Examination, and sociodemographic questionnaire. The study will be developed in partnership with the Secretary of Social Assistance (SEAS) Santos. To evaluate reliability intra-rater the battery DLOTCA-G will be applied by the same observer at two different times, with an interval of 15 days and inter-rater reliability for the two raters will score the performance of the elderly and the level of mediation from the same application. In the analysis of reliability test-retest, a subsample of 20 seniors will be used from the total sample. In criterion validity scores of the battery will be compared to scores of the Mini-Mental State Examination, considering the total score and domains. (AU)
