Abstract

In this project we study applications of quadratic optimization tools to the problem of breast cancer detection. The student will be in contact both with optimization and medical literetures, where optimization tools are applied. Initially, ongoing studies on linear optimization will be concluded. Support Vector Machines will be studied to classify data. Emphasis will be given on duality, interior point methods and generalizations to quadratic problems. An implementation will be provided of and interior point method on a real breast cancer dataset. (AU)
