Abstract We have been living a generally spread felling of a crisis of authority in modern world. Its impact on the educational context has become the objetct of analysis and criticism. A dispute between rivals programmatic conceptions suggest oppossite viwes: on one hand there are claims in favor of the need for the restoration of a lost authority and, on the other, the abolition of what authority, conceived as an obsolete device of coercion and power. In Arendt's view the disappearance of authority is brought about by the loss of durability and security in a commom world and its impact in areas such as Considering the relevance of the topic to education, the present research aims at investigating the concept of authority in the work of Hannah Arendt, its place in the educational relations and the political significance of this crisis. | |
